Hi there blog readers! Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere :)
I am a jack of all trades but master of none. Since I moved to the LA area I've realized how many things I've really tried my hand at and never followed through with anything. I plan to change all this and finish my Masters at Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine and some day become a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist.
I guess the few things I have followed through with is completing my Bachelor's at the University of Nevada, Reno in Accounting and Information Systems. I have completed several endurance running events along with all the dollars I've raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I plan to continue with these endeavors as well as finish my other adventures.
For the next four years (December 2014) I am a graduate student of acupuncture and oriental medicine. I will be taking classes like Meridians, Herb Pharmacopoeia, Herbal Formulas, acupuncture techniques, Qi Gong, and a few philosophy of OM classes. I'm still pretty overwhelmed by the amount of information I will learn over the next four years so I try to take it one quarter at a time.
I love the beach city life. Having grown up in the land locked, dry, highland desert of Reno, NV, living five blocks from the Pacific Ocean is incredible. Running by the beach is fantastic and as my running partner reminded me, I'm never alone running on the beach, there are always fishies there to keep me company :). The LA people are said to be cold and rude, but I've found that in the beach communities, that's not the case. People say "hi" on the street and everyone seems to soak up the gorgeous weather and all the outdoor opportunities that are offered.
I am embarking on my newest adventure, one I hope I can accomplish for the rest of my life. I am becoming a VEGAN! It has been reasonably easy to remove meat from my diet, but dairy, especially cheese and yogurt is proving to be difficult. I have weak moments when I drive by the Shakey's Pizza near my house, but I quickly remind myself that cheese is full of fat, hormones, and the animals are kept in the most deplorable conditions. There are many animal substitute products available and I've tried a few. Keep up on my cruelty free journey on my "Food" page of this blog.
